A Critical Decision in a Life-Threatening Moment

A 74-year-old man from Dhaka, battling advanced prostate cancer, faced respiratory failure while receiving treatment in India. After doctors explained his prognosis, the family made the difficult choice to discontinue treatment.

To ensure a safe transfer, the Bluedot medical team, in collaboration with the hospital’s critical care unit, determined that intubation and mechanical ventilation were necessary. With family consent, the patient was stabilized for transport.

Ensuring Stability Before Takeoff

Doctors closely monitored the patient for 12 hours, conducting arterial blood gas (ABG) tests to confirm stability. Despite requiring triple inotropic support, he was cleared for air transfer.

He was transported via an advanced life support (ALS) ground ambulance to a fully equipped air ambulance jet, stocked with ventilators, a defibrillator, and infusion pumps to provide uninterrupted critical care.

Airlifted with Expert Medical Support

A highly trained medical team, including a flight physician and an aeromedical paramedic, provided continuous monitoring and emergency care throughout the 3.5-hour flight.

Upon arrival, a pre-arranged ground ambulance ensured a seamless transfer to a super-specialty hospital, where he received immediate and specialized critical care.
